The officials conducting Kakinada Municipal Elections said two to three aspirants belonging to the same party have filed nominations in a division. The ruling Telugu Desham, opposition YSR Congress and Bharatiya Janata party had tough time convincing the leaders of their respective parties to withdraw nominations.
As many as 493 sets of nominations of which 43nominations were rejected by the officials of Election Commission. The EC said that the deadline for withdrawing nominations is up to 16thAugust month. Elections will be held in 48 divisions for on 29August.
TDP and BJP are going together in the elections, with the saffron party contesting in 9 of the 48 divisions while TDP will be polling in the remaining 39 divisions.
However, few individuals knocked the Court doors stating that the elections are being conducted in an urgency and demanded exempting two divisions from the polling. High Court’s will be reportedly delivering its verdict on 16August
