It is known news that singer and dubbing artist Chinmayi accused renowned lyricist and Padma award winner Vairamuthu of sexual misconduct. Except couple of celebrities, no other Kollywood stars have responded on this. But universal star Kamal Haasan, now opened up on the ongoing #MeToo movement as well as Chinmayi-Vairamuthu row.
Earlier, Singer Chinmayi revealed her story through twitter. She explained that she was asked to meet Vairamuthu in his hotel room to ‘cooperate’. But Chinmayi refused for this and then the show’s organiser threatened her. Veteran lyricist Vairamuthu responded on this through Twitter and told that he is innocent and denied the allegations, He tweeted, “Shaming innocent people has become a fashion these days. I have been shamed on several occasions recently. This is one among them. I do not lend an ear to anything that is not true. Time shall reveal the truth.”
Kamal Hassan responded on this row as well as ‘Me too’ movement. He told, “The accused should step out and speak regarding the issue. Others who are not associated with it shouldn’t really comment on this whole controversy. I welcome the #MeToo movement if it happens in an honest manner. I see it as a welcoming change.” He also added, “The movement should stay genuine. People should be aware of the problems faced by women in society. We have seen many such issues since Kannagi days”.
Anyway, top star like Kamal responding on this movement is welcome change because many other stars may also start opening up now.
