Padmashri Kamal Haasan essayed the lead role in Aalavandhan which released in 2000. The film has been based on a book ‘Dayam’ which has been penned by Kamal himself. Directed by Suresh Krissna, the film featured Raveena Tandon, Manisha Koirala, Vallabh Vyas, and Milind Gunaji in supporting roles. Aalavandhan ended up as a commercial failure but the cult classic received critical acclaim. The film even won national award for the Best Special Effects.
Now the makers are in plans to re-release the film and the digital conversion work started today. Once the film gets digitally remastered, Aalavandhan will release in 500 screens worldwide this year. S Thanu produced Aalavandhan on V Creations and the movie has been made on a massive budget of Rs 20 crores during 2000. Shankar Ehsaan Loy composed the music for Aalavandhan which released on November 14th 2001.
