Kapu Satyagraha Deeksha
Kapus veteran Mudragada Padmanabham having failed to take up his `Kapu Satyagraha Deeksha’ twice, is now seems to be changing his strategy. Instead of confining himself to East Godavari district, he is preparing for a state-wide agitation, aiming at 2019 assembly elections intending `to teach TDP a lesson’
It may be recalled that whenever he gives call for ` Kapu Satyagraha Deeksha’, police are denying him permission, confining him and other Kapu leaders to their houses, deploying heavy police.
The Kapu Reservation Porata Samithi Joint Action Committee, which met in Vijayawada yesterday has decided to undertake` Kapu Satyagraha Deeksha’ on February 26 to pressurise the government to include Kapus into BC list.
As the State government has been denying them permission for Kapu Satyagraha Pada Yatra from Ravulapalem to Antarvedi in Konaseema region of East Godavari district, this time Kapu JAC leaders have decided to conduct one-day state-wide Satyagraha Deeksha on February 26.
Kapu JAC state convener Vasireddy Yesu Dasu said that this protest programme will be conducted in all 25 Lok Sabha and 175 assembly constituencies across 13 districts of the state. Former Minister Mudragada Padmanabham will participate in the “Satyagraha Deeksha” at Kurnool.
Presence of Padmanabham in Kurnool also seems to be strategic strike in view of Balijas, who are in overwhelming number in Rayalaseema districts are preparing ground for a `separate identity’ away from Kapus.
JAC leaders deplored that the state Government is thinking that by using force and various repressive methods, they can put a full stop to their movement. But, they warned that Kapu Reservation movement wouldn’t be stopped until the government announces BC status for Kapus and other sub-castes. If this government doesn’t fulfil its election promises, they made it clear that Kapus will teach a lesson in the 2019 elections.
