Causing embarrassment to the Congress party, the Karnataka state Excise Minister H Y Meti, who was accused of being involved in a sex scandal, today submitted his resignation after a CD containing his sexual escapades was leaked. The sex CD featuring him is in the possession of RTI activist Rajashekhar Mulali of Ballari.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has immediately accepted the resignation. According to reports, the alleged scandal came to fore after an RTI activist Rajashekar Mulali alleged that there was a CD which had recorded Meti’s indecent act with a woman who had approached him for a favour.
The incident had caused a huge furore leading Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to discuss the issue with the police. Reports suggest that the chief minister asked state intelligence to thoroughly investigate the case and report to him if such a CD really existed.
It is said that some supporters of Meti have threatened Mulali with dire consequence if he makes the CD public.Meanwhile, the woman in the controversial CD on Tuesday made a U-turn by claiming that it was indeed her in the video. She had on Sunday night claimed that the woman in the clip was not her.
Meanwhile, Meti has consistently denied being involved in any indecent act. He accused that the entire episode was a political conspiracy to malign him. While ministers like Kagodu Thimmappa, Basavaraj Rayareddy and KJ George came out in strong defence of Meti, Chief Minister had warned of strict action if such a CD existed.
Earlier giving clear indication that he will not tolerate such incidents, Chief Minister earlier said that he will react only after any such CD is released. “Meti Will not be allowed to continue as a minister if such a CD is released. I will not tolerate such shameful conduct as it goes against my own ethical values too,” he added.
