Karnataka election results will be announced today. Out of 224 total seats, elections held only for 222 seats making the magic number to form the government as 112 .
Three major parties contesting elections are – Congress, BJP and JDS. as per opinion polls and exit polls none of these three parties may reach the magic number. Exit polls are divided and even who will be the single largest party as some of them predicted it to be Congress and some to be BJP. But now the question is even if Congress becomes single largest party but if it does not surpass the magic number will it be able to form the government.
In Manipur election contested in 2017 for 60 seats. Congress was single largest party with 28 seats and BJP was the second largest party with 21 seats. Remaining 11 seats were shared by other parties. but even tho Congress single largest party could not on the government as it did not surpass the magic number. finally BJP with the help of other parties and some defectors from Congress formed the government.
Similar experience repeated in Goa in 2017 elections contested for 40 seats. Again Congress was single largest party with 17 seats and BJP got only 13 seats. remaining 10 seats shared by other parties. None of the parties got the magic number of 21. So BJP turned the tables and formed the government.
Now people are keenly watching Karnataka election result. It seems Congress also cautious this time and is in negotiation with JDS already. By this afternoon the results will be out.
