For Karthi who worked as an assistant director to Mani Ratnam being cast in ‘Cheliya’ is a dream come true. “When Mani Sir calls you just drop everything and go,” says a thrilled Karthi.
He did not mind shaving off his moustache or losing oodles of weight to look like a fit Air Force Pilot. “It’s been worth it. Some actors would cut their right hand to act in Mani Sir’s film,” says Karthi adding that it was like unlearning and learning to act all over again.
He has undergone severe fighter pilot training for Cheliyaa. It is said to be first of a kind in Indian cinema to do scenes on Fighter pilot. With A R Rahman background and love theme, intense fighter pilot scenes should leave audience stunned.
Karthi looks super smart in uniform and no wonder he easily sweeps the heroine off her feet and takes her for a ride, in a plane!
