Former Chief Minister Kasu Brahmananda Reddy’s grandson Kasu Mahesh Reddy, who had joined in YSRCP at a massive public meeting held in his home town Narasaraopet on Dec 16 is said to be already unhappy with the party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
According to sources he was shocked when Jaganmohan Reddy announced at the public meeting that he would contest from Gurazala in the forthcoming assembly elections’. Though he said to be joining `unconditionally’, ever one is aware that his eyes are only on his constituency Narasaraopet. However, local MLA G Srinivasa Reddy said to be not happy with his joining suspecting he would be competitor for him to contest again.
Mahesh Reddy expected that during next two years he can cultivate his leadership in the town so that Jaganmohan Reddy also would be forced to give seat for him as on one can compete with the influence of his family in the constituency. However, to his surprise Jaganmohan Reddy announced sending Mahesh to Gurazala.
Sentimentally, Gurazala is not said to be favourable one to Kasu family. Till now two times they were defeated from there. First time in 1952, Kasu Brahmananda Reddy was defeated by CPI candidate Pola Subba Reddy. Later in 1983 in NTR’s wave, Kasu Venkata Krishan Reddy was defeated by Julakanti Nagireddy. As a result, Kasu Mahesh Reddy seems to be particular not to contest from this constituency.
After Reddy’s dominated Rentachintala mandal was taken away from this constituency, Gurazala has emerged as fortress for TDP since reorganisation of constituencies in 1999. Since then TDP’s Yarapathaneni Srinivasa Rao has been winning with comfortable margins. As a result, Kasu Mahesh Reddy seems to be determined not to contest from here.
Narasaraopet sitting MLA Srinivasa Reddy is though a polite and decent person, he mostly concentrate on his medical practice. YSRCP cadre is unhappy due to his inability to face speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao’s dominance here.
Though he is MLA, for all practical purposes Sivaprasada Rao’s son Sivaramakrishan said to be dominating the constituency in all matters. Many in YSRCP also states that Mahesh only can be a `fitting reply’ to Kodela’s domination. As a result, his emergence in the party is bound to provoke `factionalism’ with in the party.
