The latest slogan of KCR-Jagan duo is for the voters’ blessings to give them all the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the twin Telugu states. Their idea is to convince the people about the possibility of the BJP not getting full majority on its own in the 2019 general election. In such a scenario, it is natural that KCR-Jagan will stand to play king-maker at the Centre if they have got greater number of MPs on their side.
Why do they want to have a strong say in the forthcoming Central government? Is it for getting a better deal for their respective states? Outwardly, KCR is saying that Telangana state will dictate terms to the Centre if they win all the 16 seats there while Jagan says he will get Special Status to AP if he wins all the 25 seats in the state. Jagan argues that they can bring greater pressure on the Centre if TRS, MIM and YCP jointly win all the 42 seats in twin states.
But are the voters going to believe their arguments so easily? Analysts say that both KCR and Jagan are very desperate for PM Modi’s victory once again. It is because they both are terrified of the Congress making a comeback. KCR knows full well that a future Congress government at the Centre will begin a witch hunt against him for he betrayed Sonia Gandhi before and after separate Telangana formation. Jagan embarrassed Sonia Gandhi ever since his father YSR’s death and eventually destroying Congress in AP by forming his own YCP party. Jagan will face toughest time if Congress really has a chance this time.
