Everybody in Andhra Pradesh knows the BJP is weakened a lot in recent months in the state while the TRS has no presence at all here. These two parties want to play a much bigger role in AP politics because their common enemy is TDP chief and CM Chandrababu Naidu. Now, KCR and Modi have already started a proxy war in AP by indirectly promoting the YSR Congress Party and by giving all sorts of support to Opposition leader Jaganmohan Reddy.
It is indeed a pity that Jagan is reduced to a secondary power centre in the opposition though his party is the main opposition in AP. Though the YSRCP is the main competitor for TDP for power, it has no options but to play second fiddle to BJP because of Jagan who needs the Central government’s blessings for protection from CBI assets cases.
In 2014 election, Jagan’s party was the immediate favourite but the party had lost because of united efforts by Naidu, Modi and Pawan Kalyan at that time. From such a position, Jagan’s leadership has sunk to such a level now that he seems trapped in the iron grip of Modi because of his own weaknesses and disadvantages. The average voter in AP is now thinking why KCR and Modi are playing such politics that are dangerous to overall interests of AP state. The coming election in AP will see greater bitterness and acrimony than every before.
