Liquor is all set to give more kick to Telangana coffers as Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to increase prices of liquor in all categories by 20 per cent.
KCR’s decision is estimated to give an additional revenue of Rs 400 crore to state exchequer per year.

KCR took this decision to hike liquor prices to earn more revenues for the state government and beat recession.
KCR has been viewing liquor as the main source of income for Telangana government.
The TS government is already earning nearly Rs 20,000 crore through excise tax and VAT on sale of liquor.
While all other revenue-generating sectors are feeling the pinch of recession in Telangana, the liquor income is increasing consistently with increased liquor consumption in Telangana.
This is a bad news for boozers ahead of New Year, when liquor sales in Telangana break all the records.
The increases prices will come into effect from December 18.
