The complaint against the TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, when he was an MP, was that he never attended the House except on the last day of the session. He was a two-time MP: first he represented Karimnagar, then Mahabubnagar, His parliamentary performance was very poor. Not only did he skip the house on regular basis, he had never participated in any debate took place on Telangana or any other subject. True to form, the TRS supremo had bunked the house when Lok Sabha took up the Telangana bill on February 18,2014. Even outside the parliament, he skipped many important events of the T-movement such as Sakala Janula Samme and Million March.
This fact was once again brought to the notice of voters of Warangal Lok Sabha constituency by former Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar. Meira Kumar was deployed in campaign for Warangal Lok Sabha byelection by the Congress mainly because the party thought she was the right person to tell the people the Parliamentary role KCR played to get the statehood accorded to Telangana. Addressing her first election campaign in Bhupalpalli, flanked by senior Congress leaders S Jaipal Reddy, Digvijay Singh and PCC president Uttamkumar Reddy, Madhu Yaski Goud etc. she said “the House was in commotion, a historic bill was tabled and the Congress party was hell bent to get the nod of the House for the bill, however, KCR, who claims that his party was responsible for the creation of Telangana, was not in Lok Sabha.”
She asked where was Mr KCR. She said this to drive home the point that KCR was not serious about Telangana when in Lok Sabha and he was equally not serious about it when in power in the new state.
Describing KCR a chronic liar, she said he was surviving by misleading the people and time had arisen to teach him a lesson.
The former speaker alleged that chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao had done nothing for the welfare and development of Telangana except misleading the people with false promises and urged the people to teach him a befitting lesson in the Warangal byelecion. “AICC president Sonia Gandhi and the then PM Manmohan Singh strove hard to create Telangana state. They had courageously created Telangana state even though they knew pretty well that they would suffer loss in the Andhra Pradesh after the bifurcation. But they stuck to their promise given to the people of Telangana,” she said.
According to Meira Kumar the points on which KCR deceived people of AP are:
1. He never spoke of Telangana in Parliament and claimed that two-member TRS was responsible for the creation of T-state.
2.Sonia Gandhi convened several meetings on need to create Telangana well before the setting up of TRS in 2000.
3. He promised to make a dalit as CM and backed out.
4. About 1500 farmers committed suicide, KCR still wants the people believe that Telangana was progressing.
5. Neither the chief minister nor any of his ministers find time to visit the farmers, but Rahul Gandhi did it and reassured them that the party would stand by them.
Stating that her home state Bihar had taught a lesson to a chronic liar of BJP (Modi), she called upon the people of Warangal, to teach a similar lesson to the Telangana version of Modi, KCR.
