Taking advantage from the presence of large number of Sheep rearing community-Yadavas in the state, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to make the state as a major Sheep exporter. With a view that development of fisheries and sheep rearing will play a major role in revamping the rural economy in the State, he has decided to formulate plans to catch potentials for export of Sheep meat to other states and also countries.
Conducting a review on the Fisheries and Sheep rearing wings of Animal Husbandry department, he said he was keen on developing sheep rearing as a big industry in the State. In this context, he announced constitution of a Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. This committee was assigned the task of preparing a comprehensive plan of action on the development of fisheries and Sheep rearing.
Till now the Chief Minister has been focusing on irrigation projects and various welfare schemes. He said hereafter he would focus on formulating detailed action plans to develop and help people who rely on their hereditary trades.
He has instructed officials concerned to take all possible measures through the department to help Sheep farming. Through the Sheep farming all the Yadavs should become better financially and the profession should be made profitable.
Since, there will be some problems when the numbers of sheep increase multifold, Rao advised the officials concerned should find solutions to such issues. He also advised that the Sheep can be bought from the neighbouring Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh States. In future, Chief Minister is confident that Telangana State should become the centre for Sheep Farming and export and become a role model to other States.
