Is KCR planning to go for early polls? This question is now being hotly debated in the political circles of Telangana. If sources are to be believed, TPCC chief Revanth Reddy has reportedly indicated to his party leaders to start preparing for an early poll. He is reportedly to have told the party leaders and MLA ticket aspirants to activate the cadre.
Sources say that like he went to polls one year early in 2023, KCR may go for early polls in mid 2022. The internal assessment in the TRS is that the anti-incumbency is growing and before it reaches the tipping point, it is better to go for early polls. This can arrest the free fall in party’s popularity and could help the party come back to power again
KCR’s recent statement during the dharna at the Indira Park on paddy procurement that he was not afraid of facing the voters and that he was not enamoured of power is being seen as an indication that he is considering early polls. He wants to surprise the political rivals with his quick-silver actions and beat them before they prepare for the elections.
TRS internal sources reveal that KCR was very upset with the Huzurabad defeat. The TRS has lost despite marshaling all its resources and deploying several ministers. Even schemes like Dalit Bandhu have failed to charm the voters. The TRS has realized that the anti-incumbency is growing in the state. Hence it wants to go for early polls, say sources.
