Nearly after three years of coming to power, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to be realising the need for giving a feeling of `proximity’ to the people. Till now he has been mostly restricting himself to his camp office or farm house and hardly seen interacting with general population.
As he has to face elections in two years, on his birthday he started `Janahitha’ programme, by which he will interact with various sections of population at his camp office, drawing them from various districts of the state. However, he was advised that he should be seen frequently in districts.
To fill up this gap, he is now planning to conduct `roadshows’ in all the districts, soon after budget session to highlight the new community-based schemes which he proposes to announce in the budget. A special vehicle equipped with hi-tech facilities would be used during his 2-month long schedule.
For the last more than a year he has been stating that he will visit extensively in each district. But his plans are yet to materialise. Now he has decided to embark on regular visits of all the districts to ascertain the progress in the implementation of welfare and developmental programmes. It was intended to interact with rural folk in the gram sabhas (village meetings) to feel the pulse of the people.
During his visits, he will also review the progress of the government welfare programmes in each district. This will also give him first-hand information about the administration in the newly-carved districts. He is proposing to stay in few identified villages for a night to learn about the impact of government schemes.
The Collectors have already been instructed to make arrangements to lay foundation stones for the construction of integrated administration complexes in new districts during the Chief Minister’s visit. Each building cost is estimated to be around Rs 30 crore.
