Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao redefined the term ‘defection’ of MLAs. He said all defections were nothing but political reunification of Telangana forces.
So, in a way KCR was ruling out the invocation of the provisions of anti-defection law to the crossing-over of Telugu Desam party MLAs into the pink party. It doesn’t attract disqualification as there is patriotism involved in the act of defection.
Rao gave this new meaning to the defections against the backdrop of demand for action against these MLAs as per the provisions of Anti-defection Act.
Senior TDP MLA, Errabelli Dayakar Rao today formally joined the ruling party in the presence of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Dayakar won from Palakurthi constituency in Warangal district as TDP candidate in 2014.
” This Telangana state is a hard won asset. We had to wage a 15 year- long battle to get the statehood to Telangana. This state of Telangana should emerge stronger. This is possible only when all the T-forces are reunited,” he said and urged all not to see these ‘joinings’ from the perspective of politics (defections).
All these leaders, KCR said, were coming on to the same forum for the sake of the Telangana development.
He invited Dayakar Rao and others by offering them Pink kanduva- a new ritual invented to sanctify the defection. The CM categorically said all those who defect from other parties to TRS would be treated as the part of the ongoing process of reunification of T-forces.
” Let’s us develop the district of Warangal together,” he called upon people promising that he was planning to allocate Rs 300 cr every year to the district.
Naidu also can benefit from new definition
Convenience of the new definition is that it can be adopted by all parties in all states. And it has come in handy for Rao’s Andhra counterpart and friend N Chandrababu Naidu. Naidu is admitting scores of opposition leaders into his yellow party- lacks definition. He, however, is facing a serious campaign by YSRCP that he should seek fresh mandate for all the six opposition legislators (Five MLAs and one MLC) as they were technically still the legislators of YSRC. Naidu can simply say it was nothing but reunification of Telugu forces for the development of state, which is still in throes of bifurcation.
