Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is confident that his government’s flagship programme `Mission Bhagiratha’ will provide piped water to over 10 laklh homes by March-end and 42.38 lakh homes by December-end.
After conducting a review on this programme, he said that by March this year, 3811 Villages will get the drinking water and by December 20,366 villages will be added, which translated into piped water to 9,79, 245 houses by March and 42,38,980 houses by December. However, as it would not be possible to take up works during rainy season, he directed the officials to complete all works by June itself, before the onset of monsoon.
He said that ‘Mission Bhagiratha’,launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year, is going to be a role model in the country. He also said that representatives from 7 States came here to study the programme. NITI AYOG praised this project and in several states they are planning to emulate the programme.
Recalling that his government has taken this programme as a prestigious one, Chandrasekhar Rao reiterated that by next elections, “if we do not supply drinking water to every household, we have declared that we will not seek votes”. Assuring that there is no dearth of funds for the Mission Bhagiratha, Rao said that financial institutions have already pledged about Rs 30,000 Crore.
”We have to speed up works at the ground level and that should be our aim as on date. Coordinate with all the departments for the pipeline works. Get clearances from the National Highways, state Highways, Panchayat Raj roads, Railway crossings, Canal crossings, River/Rivulet Crossings. Get the forest clearances faster. The district Collectors should be asked to play a proactive role in this,” he added. The Chief Minister has emphasised the need to have uninterrupted power supply for the programme.
