Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at public address on Wednesday recalled an incident on formation of districts during his political his stint with TDP under Late N T Rama Rao regime.
KCR reminisced that after losing 1982 elections, when NTR was going to Karimnagar via Siddipet, the TRS supremo along with TSIIC chairman G Balamallu and few other friends drew the map of the district.
They halted the convoy of the then Chief Minister at Ambedkar statue near Siddipet bus stand and KCR himself handed over the map to NTR. KCR and friends requested the creation of Siddipet district as it was troublesome to travel to Sangareddy. Later, NTR announced that Mancherial will be made a district. Both the districts did not transpire until Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao tookover.
He noted that in India, only West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh never created new districts, but after the formation of Telangana, TRS declared 31districts for administrative purposes exactly a year ago on 11October2016.
KCR who visited Siddipet district laid foundation stones for construction of Integrated Collectorate, Police Commissionerate and Medical College.
