Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s wholehearted support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation move making the both Congress and MIM irritate and BJP voiceless. Congress and MIM insisted for a debate on demonetisation move on the very first day of the winter session of Telangana assembly.
They planned to corner the Chief Minister by pointing their fingers against Narendra Modi’s `loop-sided’ move. They thought Rao would hesitate to support Modi’s move vehemently and would join them by focusing on the hardships of the people.
But they were shocked when KCR starts to defend Modi, more than BJP leaders and tried to present people’s hardships in Telangana are `nominal’. Even he went to the extent of advising the Centre to initiative many more steps towards elimination of all forms of black money.
Congress legislature party deputy leader Jeevan Reddy accused that Chief Minister is talking like `Modi agent’. “We want him to speak like people’s agent, but not as Modi’s agent”, he said.
MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi advised Chief Minsiter K. Chandrashekar Rao against extending “blind support” to the demonetisation move taken. He frankly said while the MIM was openly supporting TRS Government, the Chief Minister was advocating the BJP Government. He has admitted this situation has put the MIM in huge embarrassment.
KCR’s pro-Modi gestures makes the BJP members voiceless in the house. Though they have been attempting to aggressively criticise his government’s policies, they seems to be forced to be `soft’ towards him in the present circumstances.
First, BJP opposed the demand for a discussion of demonetization in the Assembly saying that the subject was a Central issue and the state has nothing to do with it. However, after realising that KCR has successfully presented the move in the assembly as a `great forward step’, they felt he argued `on their behalf’ more vigorously.
