Hyderabad: After being advised to take road route due to inclement weather conditions, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao reached Karimnagar district to assess the flood situation due to torrential rains. KCR, who is scheduled to fly in helicopter, would reach Mid Maneru project through road to assess the inflows along with the senior irrigation officials.
KCR would take an aerial view of the irrigation projects providing weather is clear. KCR would convene a review meeting with the irrigation officials after assessing the situation of the project. Mid Maneru was breached for a stretch of 100 metres adjacent to spillway. Subsequently, the irrigation department evacuated people residing in 10 villages in the low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, rescue operations were intensified on Monday morning with the rains giving a relief. So far, the Lower Maneru Dam (LMD) received 19.68 tmc of water from the rains. Total inflows of water is 78,000 cusecs while the outflow is at 4,000 cusecs.
