Hyderabad: In a move to be ahead of the AP government in passing the constitution Amendment Bill on Goods and Service Tax (GST), Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has urged Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Madhusudhana Chary to convene a special session on August 30.
He also urged Telangana Legislative Council chairman Swamy Goud to convene a session at 11 am in order to pass the bill smoothly.
On the other hand, the AP government will hold Assembly session on September 8 to pass the bill.
The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) will meet on August 30 to decide number of days the session should be held.
Issues pertaining to the Telangana government’s assurance to STs and Minorities of providing 12 per cent reservation is likely to come to the fore during the session.
It may be recalled that the findings and detailed report had already submitted to KCR by the Raja Chellappa Commission on STs and the Sudhir Commission on Muslim minorities after studying the social and financial statuses of the two communities. There will be a discussion on the issue in the House.
Meanwhile, the opposition Congress is also gearing up to corner the government on the issue of creation of new districts. A preliminary-draft notification had already been issued and invited objection from people of all the nine districts except Hyderabad.
