Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to interact with the family members of deceased journalists, on his birthday February 17, wherein the Chief Minister would hear their woes and take measures to address their grievances.
Through this interaction, he is proposing to launch his unique programme `Janahita’, aiming at interacting with a cross section of people. Starting from this day, he will frequently interact with various sections of population, drawn from all over the state, at his official residence `Pragati Bhavan. Such interactive meetings would be with sections like women, teachers, agriculture labourer, farmers, weavers and workers.
As he is unable to persuade his intended visits to districts so that to meet cross sections of population, so that to get first hand feedback on his governance and problems at field level, he has decided to invite them to his residence and interact with them.
With regards to journalists, he announced that the government would allocate Rs 10 crore every year for journalists’ welfare. Besides helping the families of journalists who died, help would also be given to those who fall sick.
He has decided to give Rs 1 lakh each to the families of journalists who died and their family members will get a pension of Rs 3,000 per month for five years. If they have children studying below 10th standard, we will give Rs 1,000 to two children of each family per month.
If the children of the journalists are studying abroad, Overseas Scholarship will be given to them. We will also give assistance to journalists pursuing courses abroad,” said the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister has entrusted the job of identifying house sites for journalists in Hyderabad to Minister K T Rama Rao.
