Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao’s strategic meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, last evening in Delhi has been creating furore in political circles of two Telugu states. According to media indications the two leaders have discussed issues only related to post-demonetization, other parties here are not discounting chances of others issues arrives on this occasion.
He spent about 70 minutes with the prime minister. Incidentally, he was the first chief minister who met the prime minister on this sensitive issue, after 11 days of Modi’s announcement. By this meeting, he has given clear indication to his political opponents and also people at large in Telangaan state, that he means business and don’t’ like to involve in politicisation of crucial issues.
While making several suggestions to cease the difficulties of general public at banks and ATMs, Rao also said to be given several suggestions on follow-up steps to be taken for effective control of black money. With this suggestion, TRS sources here says that their leader has indicated in clear terms his willingness to work with Prime Minister in taking up speedy reforms. On the other hand, that makes issue based support to the government.
According to sources close to TRS, after maintaining silence over this issue, Rao had taken a decision to extend moral support to the Prime Minister in this regard only after realising that inspite of heavy difficulties for their daily needs, the people in general are welcoming Modi’s initiative.
By mentioning to the prime minister that his government is bound to lose a revenue of Rs 3,250 crore, he has given a message to the public that his first priority would be interests of the state, but not pretty politics. By urging the Prime Minister to declare moratorium on the taxes to be paid to the center by the state government and also on loans taken from central institutions. In addition, he sought interest-free loans to continue all ongoing government schemes.
