From the past few days, social media, and a couple of TV channels started speculating that former IPS officer, and current Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi Andhra Pradesh’s next governor. Given the BJP rule at the Centre and good work of Kiran Bedi in Puducherry, many political analysts felt that this speculation might well be true.
Putting an end to all these speculations, Kiran Bedi confirmed that, there is no truth in the rumours spread by TV news channels and social media. ‘I am receiving a very good response to the programs I had taken up in Puducherry. It is untrue that, I will be-be Andhra Pradesh’s next governor. In fact, I will not go as a governor to any state. I would like to finish my complete tenure as Lieutenant General of Puducherry’, said Kiran Bedi.
The spat between Kiran Bedi and Puducherry Chief Minister, Narayana Swamy is quite open. CM Narayana Swamy has stated that Kiran Bedi is intervening too much in the government affairs a couple times in national media.
Though EL Narasimhan’s tenure has already been completed, the Centre government extended his tenure temporarily. Former AP BJP President Kambhampati Hari Babu has written asking the Centre to appoint a new governor for the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is after this letter, Kiran Bedi’s name came into the picture.
