The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TJAC) steering committee today expressing severe concern over indiscriminate party defections in Telangana legislative assembly, has urged the Speaker to implement Anti Defection Law in true spirit. Its Chairman asked the Speaker Madhusudana Chary to preserve the respect and decorum of the office he is holding.
It may be recalled that nearly 30 MLAs have defected into ruling TRS, but the Speaker is delaying in taking a decision against them as per anti-defection law. Presently the Supreme Court referred the issue to a constitutional bench.
Indirectly denouncing the politics of defection encouraged by the ruling TRS, Prof Kodandaram asked the political parties to follow values in public life and desist form unethical forms. He demanded to bring political leaders under the purview of Lokayukta.
The meeting has chalked out a four-month agitation programmes against K Chandrasekhar Rao’s government. The programmes will started with organising a dharna in Hyderabad against 2013 Land Acquisition Act. It would be followed by rallies, dharnas and study tours on the issues of protection of educational institutions, seeking employment and livelihood during next two months.
In the month of March they will study execution of State Government’s flagship programmes Mission Kakateeya and Mission Bhagiradha at field level. During April, they would conduct studies on small scale industries and artisans.
The TJAC has demanded the state government to take back its Private Universities Bill, immediate steps to regularise contract employees, release pay revision arrears to employees and it should announce its agricultural policy.
Strongly opposing the government’s move to scrap zonal system, it warned against such hasty decision and suggested to constitute an experts committee to study the same.
