After retiring as teacher, Professor Kodandaram picked the path of struggle to question politics. But his strategies and procedures seem to be out of order. For more than three decades he has groomed a lot of students who have become experts in various fields. However he is not able to display the same level of expertise in his approach. Several suggestions are pouring in for Kodanda to look at the strategy of Manda Krishna Madiga for SC categorization.
Manda Krishna followed the Gandhian way wherein he did not directly call people for SC categorization. Instead he worked with various people at gross root level about various issues. He launched an agitation demanding a special package for children suffering from heart ailments. He mobilized a large number of parents and sick children who came in the hope of getting free treatment. The suffering children paraded in the Hyderabad city. Thus bringing pressure on the government when the Chief Minister Y S Rajashekhar Reddy came down on the request and admitted them to government and private hospitals.
On similar lines he conducted Dharna for the differently abled person. He started mobilizing people from villages and districts as very little was being done to alleviate their difficulties. The government came down on the needs of the physically challenged people. Later when he started protesting for SC categorization these physically challenged people from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States have held an impressive rally at Jantar Mantar in support. Now the bill is with the NDA government and Venkaiah Naidu assured to see that the categorization of Scheduled Castes takes place before the term of this government comes to an end.
Kodanda was able to get the fame like no other professor in both Telugu states. But his strategy to mobilize the unemployed youth did not go well. It is really impossible to give government jobs to all the unemployed and apparently this did not go well with the youth either. The TJAC chief had mismanaged the agitation to highlight the problems of unemployed youth. It is nothing new for the professor to get arrested, but the way in which his family and team responded seemed stagy.
His core idea of keeping TJAC and not dissolving has lost track. The internal clashes in TJAC and the suspension of two senior leaders is creating negative image for the committee. At this moment it is difficult to see any positive outcome from TJAC especially with the rebel group accusing him of pursuing personal agenda with political ambition. Even the chief minister KCR indirectly attacking the professor asked the youth of the state not to become pawns in the hands of politically unemployed people.
