The Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) chairman Prof M Kodandaram though had last week refuted speculations over his efforts to float a new political party in Telangana, his activities are giving indication that he has already started process to start a new party in the state. For the first time, mincing no words in saying that the present dispensation has failed to fulfil aspirations of people in the state, he has given clear indication on the need for a new political party by stating that the failure of the government gives scope for an alternative leadership to emerge.
Speaking at an interaction session held by Telangana Advocates JAC on “Alternative Politics”, he also said “TJAC has to put in all efforts to develop such an alternative leadership and we will.” “The policies of the present dispensation are not acceptable to us,” he said adding that they were discussing alternative politics.
Meanwhile, the founder of Swaraj India Party Yogendra Yadav, while speaking on the same occasion, called upon the Telangana JAC to form a political party in the State. He advised Kodandaram that this was the right time for the people who have struggled for a separate State to take a decision. However, he wanted the JAC leaders to have a long term plans and a new vision. He said that there was no change in the lives of the people even after two and half years of the formation of Telangana.
Amidst rumours that he was likely to emerge as a rallying point for Opposition to fight against TRS, he said one individual would emerge as the rallying point if a platform fighting for alternative leadership emerged.
Stating that the JAC was trying to bring in a change in the present day politics, Kodandaram indicated that there would be political expression in future. However, he said that there was a need for a strong agitation for this.
