The Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman Prof M Kodandaram, who has been till now confining himself to speeches and dharnas for attacking the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s `misrule’, is now getting ready for a direct confrontation.
Raising a revolt banner against the government on the issue of unemployment, he announced that a “massive rally” would be organised in the State capital on February 22 to expose the government’s failure in creating lakhs of jobs.
Recalling that one of the key objectives of gaining statehood for Telangana was to provide employment to youth in the State, he deplored that the government is not taking any steps to fulfil this objective. Unemployed youth are very much discouraged by the government’s attitude towards them, he said.
The TJAC activists has approached the City Police Commissioner seeking permission for their proposed protest rally. According to him the rally will starts from Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram and concludes at Indira Park.
He said that since formation of Chandrasekhar Rao’s government as many as 50 notifications were issued for recruitments. But hardly 6,000 were recruited. The prolonged recruitment process is continuing in police, power and other departments. All over, hardly 15,000 were provided employment by this government.
He recalled that the government itself announced there during 2014 budget presentation that there are 1.07 lakh vacancies in the government. With the formation of 21 new districts and if retirement taken into account during last two and half years, the total number of vacancies are bound to touch 2.5 lakh mark.
Accusing that the state police has been harassing their activists and even threatening them, Kodandaram said they are prepared to face any consequences. “Is it possible to achieve Telangana state had we bow down to police harassment?” he asked.
