Has KCR made a PowerPoint presentation or driven home the point that all roads lead to power? The presentation in the Assembly on redesign and the circumstances leading to such a decision with regard to irrigation projects in Telangana has had its desired effect, apparently.
Nalgonda MLA Komatreddy Venkat Reddy, to whom work on these projects is very dear, on Saturday heaped encomiums on Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
What follows is the obvious. It is only conjecture of time before his brother Rajagopal Reddy who is an MLC to sing paeans to KCR and his commitment to redesigning of irritation projects and how great soul KCR is.
The Mission Bhageeratha and Mission Kakatiya will all come under the ‘praise list’ of the Komatreddy brothers.
Venkat Reddy has already pooh-poohed the Congress flock in Telangana for not participating in the presentation on the floor of the House.
This is like clearing the decks for his floor-crossing. Komatreddy has maintained a love-hate relationship with the Chief Minister. But he never waxed eloquent on KCR like what he did today.
He said that he would campaign for the TRS if the Chief Minister agreed to build 50 two-bed room houses for weaker sections in every village. Venkat Reddy knows this demand cannot be met. But this is the safe harbour he created for himself and his brother. Just in case KCR doesn’t give any “assurances” for crossing over, he can cite this as a reason and stay away from the TRS.
Komatreddy brothers have inherent political strength. Venkat Reddy had challenged the TRS to defeat his younger brother in the MLC elections using power or pelf to lure his supporters in the local area constituency. He had announced that he would take political sanyas as a penance. He knew he wouldn’t have to. And his brother won on Congress ticket. No mean an achievement it is in the light of an all too powerful TRS regime where crossing over to the ruling party is now treated as a warrior’s victory.
Well, admittedly KCR and his bandwagon were crestfallen on this humiliating defeat in Nalgonda district MLC polls.
Education Minister Jagadeesh Reddy may have some problems in having the Komatreddy brothers on board TRS. But the duo too need to budge and climb down a few steps to wriggle themselves out of the Congress.
The Grand Old Party has appointed Telangana PCC president and the Leader of the Opposition in Telangana Assembly from Nalgonda district. And the party never cares for any ramifications when its chips are down. It does things that make a mockery of its own existence.
So, from the standpoint of Komatreddy brothers, crossing over to the TRS is a wiser decision. And, it is convenient for KCR to conquer the district without stooping down.
Thus the PowerPoint yielded the power to the point.
