Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) founder president M Krishna Madiga deplored that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was indifferent towards their long standing demand of the categorization of Scheduled Castes reservations.
Addressing the largely attended “Dharma Yuddam” public meeting organised by MRPS last evening at Secunderabad Parade Grounds, he said that he had made vain efforts to meet KCR. “I tried many times to get his appointment and even sought the help of his ministers, but the Chief Minister did not give time,” he added.
It may be recalled in the past KCR was also an ardent supporter for categorization of SCs, but after coming to power it seems growing gap with Krishna Madiga, makes him indifferent.
Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu pushing the burden on Krishna Madiga assured that the NDA government would try to amend the Constitution and see to it that the categorization of SCs takes place before the term of this government comes to an end. He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had agreed in principle for categorization of SCs.
However, tactfully he advised Krishna Madiga to talk to Chief Minister KCR and enlist his support as well, sensing that KCR has been avoiding to meet Krishna Madiga. Since a Constitutional amendment was required, Venkaiah Naidu made it clear that the NDA government required the support of all political parties and all State governments.
Sensing opportunistic attitude of various political parties, Krishna Madiga deplored that in the past many governments had constituted committees to study the demand, but none of them tried to take the issue to a logical conclusion. He expressed his hope that with the unanimous support received from all political parties at this meeting, the Union government would take steps to introduce a bill in Parliament at the earliest.
