Telangana minister KT Ramarao, son of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, has become more powerful and second most important minister in the cabinet.
In the today’s reshuffling of the departments KTR has been allotted all the important departments. It clearly shows the way things are moving in Telangana. In the words of a political observer, KCR is slowly delegating more powers to KTR to gain him more acceptability among the other cabinet minister and the public before he is anointed as chief minister in near future.
“Already, all political work has already been given to him. He is leading the party in elections. Now he is in charge of Palair bypoll. Earlier he led Warangal bypoll, GHMC, and GWMC. Now, slowly government is also coming under his command,” he said. From now onwards KTR will look after, besides IT and Municipal administration, the department of Mines and geology, Industries, and NRI affairs.
As for IT, KTR has brought maximum visibility to the Hyderabad which is now called first call of port for start-ups. IT has become the growth engine for Telangana. After this comes the Municipal Administration and Urban Development depart, which controls the GHMC and Metro Rail- two glamorous wings under the hegemony of MA &UD. The importance of mining can’t be underestimated in Telangana. Now he has been entrusted with Industries as well. In backdrop of recent spurt in investment flows, Industries department needs an articulate leader at the helm of affairs , who should negotiate deals in favour Telangana.
Another important feature of today’s changes is the stripping of revenue departments from others. This way Talasani Srinivasa Yadav has been divested of high profile commercial taxes and he is allotted animal husbandry. Industries minister Jupalli will now look after panchayat Raj and rural development, minus the heart ie mission Bhagiratha which has gone to CMs kitty.
Even, CM’s nephew, T Harish Rao, irrigation minister, also has to shed some weight. He lost Mining to Ramarao. But, the sources close to Harish Rao said mining has been removed from him as he was overburdened already with Irrigation and Mission Kakatiya as per his request.
