Balance of power is clearly swinging in the favor of K T Ramarao and Kavita in TRS. As the heirs apparent of party founder and chief minister K Chandrasekha Rao, they seem to have won the battle for next position after KCR in the party.
While the duo got the control over GHMC area, their potential rival in the party T Harish Rao, irrigation minister and nephew of KCR, is sent to Narayakhed wilderness. Both IT minister Ramarao, and his sister Kavita ( Nizambad MP) are seen everywhere in Hyderabad, participating in programs, on the eve of high profile GHM C elections, the only persons conspicuous by his absence is Harish Rao.
Informed sources in the TRS told telugu360.com that KCR has asked the Irrigation minister, known for his mobilization skills, to take care of the ensuing byelection to the Narayankhed constituency. Harish, according to sources, has been busy for quite some time in preparing the strategy for development of this backward constituency in Medak district. Harish’s work began after the death of Congress MLA P Kista Reddy keeping in view the elections. Harish is said to have developed theme for elections that the backwardness of the constituency was the result of successive election of Congress candidate. In the past few days, he toured the entire area and identified the projects to be announced once the campaign begins.
Winning Narayankhed, a stronghold for Congress, is crucial for Harish if he doesn’t want to get clouded by the aura of KCR’s son and daughter. TRS has eight MLAs from a total of 10 in Medak district. While Congress is dependent on sympathy factor of Kista Reddy, who is known as a gentleman-politician in the district, Harish Rao is in a hurry to demonstrate that he means business.
He is planning irrigation projects, laying foundation stones for substation works of which are already in progress. Recently he brought other ministers to visit the constituency to lay the foundation stones for developmental programs.
On the other side in Hyderabad, KT Ramarao and his sister Kavita are made star campaigners for GHMC polls. Ramarao will be supervising the complete election campaign and poll process. He will take care of 75 divisions in Hyderabad along with Old City matters, as he is fluent in Hindu and Urdu. Kavita, on the other hand, will look after the up-market areas such as hi-tech city, commercial areas, Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills etc. Many agree that it’s a clear supremacy of Ramarao and Kavita over the party, but the they dismiss the argument that Harish is getting marginalized. But what is noteworthy is anybody, who controls Hyderabad will control the rest of the state.
