Minister of IT&C K T Rama Rao joined the league of TRS leaders to condemn the writings of the Dalit activist Kancha Ilaiah. Even though the support for the professor is growing, the TRS government is against the controversial book and will not be backing the author.
KTR took to twitter and said, “Freedom of expression doesn’t confer upon anyone the right to insult as they wish.” He further added, “…abuse of freedom of expression to deride, insult & target specific community is reprehensible”
It may be recalled that Ilaiah received death threats and did a self-house arrest. Responding on the threats KTR said that Telangana police will review the situation. The TS police said that they would extend security to the professor once he approaches them.
Andhra Pradesh TDP leader T.G.Venkatesh issued a Fatwa against Ilaiah to hang him on streets. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the book will not be sold in AP.
Arya Vysya communities across TS and AP have been protesting against book titled “Samajika Smugglurlu Komatollu” and demanded that the governments to ban Ilaiah’s book and arrest him immediately.
Am I not entitled to freedom of expression Sir? Are you going to dictate what I should be saying? Pls know the issue before jumping in https://t.co/Ee20cikXMp

No differing with you on the death threats but abuse of freedom of expression to deride, insult & target specific community is reprehensible https://t.co/MOm1VInOs8

Freedom of expression doesn’t confer upon anyone the right to insult as they wish. If there is a threat perception, TS police will review it https://t.co/7wVzqqFZ0A
