Kukatpally assembly constituency is known for its diversity. It is like a mini-Bharat with people from various origins. In 2014 elections, TDP won from here defeating TRS candidate with huge margin. Of course, TDP candidate later joined into TRS. As part of alliance, TDP will be contesting from here. Now there has been debate about whom will the voters of this constituency favor.
As per the reports, Kukatpally demographics are like this – it has 58% of population with AP origin. It also has considerable chunk of Tamilians and Keralites who reside in Balanagar and Fathenagar areas. It also has Gujarathis, Marathis, Rajashtanis and Sikhs – all together upto 20 thousand in numbers.
Community wise population also proves that Kukatpally has considerable diversity. It has BC population of around 70 thousand and Kamma popultion of 13 thousand. At the same time, it has around population of around 64,000 belonging to Kapu and other allied communities (Balija, Telaga and Toorpu Kapu). While it has around 20 thousand of SCs, 20 thousand of christians, it has around 61,000 Muslims. Among others it has 9 thousand Kshatriyas, 22 thousands of Reddys, 12 thousand of Vysyas, 11 thousand of Brahmins, 3 thousands of Velamas, around 32 thousands from other states.
With such diversity, Kukatpally is generating curiosity among observers and analysts. We will have to wait and see whom these voters will favor.
