Legendary Tamil artist Manorama , fondly called as ‘Aachi’,passed away in Chennai earlier today following a cardiac arrest. Aged 78, she is survived by her son Bhoopati.
In a career spanning over 6 decades, she acted in more than 1200 films and holds a rare distinction for sharing screen with 5 chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. She has acted in 5 languages and won various awards throughout her career.
She was awarded Padma Shri in 2002 by the government of India and she also bagged the National Film Award for best supporting actress role in 1989.
She also acted in numerous Telugu films as well and she was last seen in Anushka’s Arundhati.
The entire Tamil industry grieved the demise of such a great artist and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
