Runaway businessman Vijaya Mallya has made sensational statements against banks and government agencies in the wake of the suicide of Cafe Coffee Day founder VG Siddhartha. Mallya, who is hiding in London, tweeted a message saying that like Siddhartha, he is also being harassed. He said that the Siddhartha story is the example of how banks can drive anybody to despair. This clearly shows how businessmen are being treated in the country.
Mallya deplored that he has come forward to dispose of his property to clear all the debts but the government agencies and banks are not supporting him. In Western countries, they give all help necessary to a businessman to enable him to repay debts. Mallya’s tweet created a sensation in political and business and corporate circles across Indian and abroad. He has been accused of defaulting huge loans worth Rs. 9,000 crore in India.
Mallya has got some previous association with Siddhartha who is known as the King of Coffee. Saying that Siddhartha is an excellent human being, Mallya said that his letter written prior to his extreme step had devastated him. Mallya said that the government agencies are also vicious and unrelenting although he is promising to make full repayment.
