Lokesh assests
The only thing the world is discussing after Nara Lokesh’s nomination is not about his cabinet berth but his riches and age. He is not only the youngest MLC to contest but also the richest politician in Andhra Pradesh.
Telugu Desham Party general secretary who filed MLC nomination under MLA quota declared assets worth rupees 330 crore. The Nara family proudly claims to be the only political family that announces their assets and liabilities in the country. However, the numbers have gone up 23 times in span of just five months.
In an affidavit submitted to election authorities, Lokesh indicated that the total value of his assets is around rupees 330 crore, his wife’s 28 crore and son’s 11 crores. While his son’s money is more or less same, his shares of Heritage which were worth rupees 2.52 crore in October 2016 shot up to rupees 273.84 crore while filing the nomination. Remarkably, Heritage’s retail was sold to Future Retail Ltd in November 2016, and the Nara family retained only a 3.65 per cent stake. His wife Brahmani’s value of assets shot up to rupees 28 crore from rupees 5.32 crore.
While Lokesh has records of being youngest and richest, it would be fun to have records of how a 34 year old earned rupees 330 crore or a new born has rupees 11 crore. May be this is called born with a silver spoon.
In the assembly session, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu reminded Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy that Chandrababu has done M.A. in economics and that the opposition leader cannot understand their numbers. Hopefully, the Chief Minister who is equipped with an M.A. in economics understands the numbers given by his son. The chances that this degree might have helped Lokesh to grow business 23 times in just 5 months.
While some pompously display their wealth, others nattily hide it. It is not sure what Lokesh is trying to convey. Either he is going to write it as typo or come out clean on his assets.
Chandrababu must be a proud father who has lower the income than son and grandson. It is very rare for sons to outdo their father’s especially in politics but the Nara family is all set to start a trend.
