Nara Lokesh, Telugu Desam Party national general secretary, is visiting Kadapa tomorrow. Lokesh’s visit, close on the heels of Jammalamadu MLA C Adinarayana Reddy and his MLC brother Narayana Reddy joining TDP, is being seen as the serious political mission.
Lokesh is said to be hell bent on removing ‘YSR family bastion’ tag of Kadapa district. The heir apparent of Naidu, who reportedly handling the migrations from the Opposition party, is coming to Kadapa district on three assignments- instilling confidence among the YSRCP MLAs and others, who want to switch over to Telugu Desam party from the district. Of the 10 MLAs in the district, only one MLA is from TDP. With the yesterday cross-over, the number has gone up to two. So, Lokesh wants to win over at least another three MLAs from the district- including one prominent Reddy.
Assignment two is to capture Kadapa Muncipal corporation, which looks a tough task as of now. Still Lokesh is determined to engineer a revolt in Municipal body. Out of 50 corporators, TDP won just 8 and consequently the Chairman post had gone to YSRC. Unless TDP wins another 25 corportors, getting TDP nominee elected will be difficult. The deputy mayor Butcher Arifullah has announced that he would join the TDP in the presence of Nara Lokesh. This, TDP leaders said the beginning of the fall of Municipal body.
The third Assignment is toppling the YSRCP majority in Zilla Parishat. Lokesh thinks with the joining of C Adinarayana Reddy, this mission would be cake walk for TDP. Because, it was Adinarayana Reddy who ensured the election of YSRC member ( Gudur Ravi) as the chairman. During his hey days in YSRCP, Reddy, got his man elected chairman by enticing majority members towards his side. Since he was protégé of YSR, Jagan could not foresee any trouble with the Jammalamadugu MLA. So, according to sources, Adinarayana Reddy is said to have assured Nara Lokesh that he would ensure the defeat of YSRC chairmen in ZP and Kadapa corporation.
Many field level YSRCP leaders are expected to join the TDP tomorrow in the presence of Lokesh .
Lokesh is appointed in-charge of Kadapa district with the goal of dismantling the influence of YSR family in the district. This political objective could become achievable only when associated with developmental program. There is strong resentment among the people of the district as the TDP government is still not able to decide on the setting up of the steel plant as promised in the Bifurcation Act. Already students and youth have started a non-political movement for the steel plant. They beauty of this movement is that they are not allowing any politician come nearer the movement because none of the leaders- MLAs, MLCs or others, have raised the district problems in the past 22 months, they complain. Leader of Steel Plant Sadhan Samiti and engineering graduate G Praveen Kumar Reddy is planning a mass fast along with hundreds of students at the steel plant site soon. Teams of students visiting villages to the seek support to their movement.
Nara Lokesh should not get completely caught in the murky politics of Aya Rams and Gaya Rams. He should also work towards winning over the hearts of people of the district by giving concrete program on the establishment of Steel Plant.
