The ‘lollipop’ comment made by Prime Minister Modi against Karnataka JDS-Congress coalition government has stirred a political storm in the state. Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy Gowda accused Modi of having insulted the farmers’ community in the state with his needless comments. Modi has earlier said the Karnataka government has so far given just ‘lollipop’ to farmers and its loan waiver benefits have reached just 800 farmers while there are lakhs of them there.
Hitting back strongly at PM comments, Kumaraswamy released statistics about how their loan waiver scheme benefits have reached 60,000 farmers so far and it was worth Rs. 350 crore. The amount was directly deposited in the online accounts of the respective eligible farmers.
Kumaraswamy also took objection to the PM comments that the JDS-Congress combine came to the power by wrong means as it had made false and empty promises to farmers and all sections of people. The CM asserted their government is collecting total information and already details of 21 lakh farmers were received. Loan waiver will be implemented and completed successfully as per a time frame for which farmers’ aadhaar cards, ration cards and pattas details are being verified.
