Tollywood Overseas
Tollywood is going through a lean phase at the overseas box office since the start of September. Post the grand success of Fidaa and Arjun Reddy in overseas, none of the recent big ticket films managed to bring profits for their buyers.
Starting from Balakrishna’s Paisa Vasool to the recent Raju Gari Gadhi 2, no film managed to touch the break even mark in overseas. Dusheera biggies disappointed trade circles big time as they failed to perform on par with the expectations. While buyers of Jai Lava Kusa and Mahanabhavudu suffered minor losses, SPYder turned out to be a huge disaster. The next prominent release after Dusheera season, Raju Gari Gadhi 2, which performed very poorly despite good talk, has further dented the success graph of Telugu cinema in recent times at the overseas box office.
Ravi Teja’s latest outing Raja The Great is also struggling at the overseas box office. Young hero Ram’s Vunnadi Okkate Zindagi is gearing up for release next week. Akhil’s Hello and Nani’s MCA are the only notable big releases in the next couple of months.
So, overseas trade circles are eagerly waiting for next year’s Sankranthi season during which a few big budget films are slated for release.
