In an attempt to remove the tag that the officials under Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu belong to his caste, it is said that he is going ahead with a major bureaucratic reshuffle. After the cabinet expansion, targeting 2019 elections, the TDP supremo is all is all set to initiate transfers for IAS officers, secretary and chief secretaries in the state. If the buzz is to believed Dinesh Kumar and Satish Chandra held discussions regarding transfers and postings of the officers.
As per the speculations, couple of officers from the Chief minister’s Office, Tirmula Tirupati Devasthanam’s executive officer and two Joint executive officers, seven to eight district collectors will probably be transferred. If reports are to be believed a junior IAS officer from the CMO is anticipated to become a collector. Also, the officials who despite being promoted are continuing in their existing positions, perhaps will be assigned new roles. Chandrababu is deliberating on assigning only one department to each official.
It may be recalled that after 2014 elections, the TDP government performed large-scale transfers of the bureaucrats. On similar lines, TDP chief anticipates the transferals to be completed within couple of days. Officers who do not bond well with the important leaders of the party are targeted in this stint.
Recent interactions of TDP leaders with collectors and commissioners shows the friction between the two. It has become a everyday task for leaders to complain against the bureaucrats. Likewise, in the reconciliation meeting, even the collectors and officers have been complaining to the CM about the leaders. In such situation, officers who can work along with the MLAs and implement the TDP policies will be posted as collectors.
