High court asked the state government to detail as to how it will spend the Rupees 500 crores allocated to the Farmer Coordination Committees on Tuesday. It also ordered not to make any payments from the allocated amount.
Convenor of the Telangana state MPTC Forum Manohar Reddy filed a petition in the High Court challenging G.O.39 establishing the Farmer Coordination Committees. Petitioner’s advocate Rachana Reddy argued that the GO was politically motivated and that the revenue system will be weakened. The ministers were given powers to select members for the proposed farmer coordination committees which resembled the revival of Patel Patwari system
Opposition parties Congress, BJP including TJAC have been protesting demanding the annulment of GO 39 which will invalidate the local bodies and their rights.
While court heard their plea to abolish the GO, it also gave three weeks of time to the state government file a counter.
