The Income Tax officials began widespread raids on the Kalki Bhagwan Ashrams in Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh and also in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The raids are continuing at the ashram located at Battalavallam village in Varadaiahpalem mandal in Chittoor district. The raids were started today following complaints that the Kalki Ashram organisers are diverting massive funds donated by the devotees. They are using the finds to buy real estate property in prime locations in cities and towns.
Considering the big network of Kalki, the IT sleuths of Southern Zone split into eight teams and carried out the raids. The officials questioned the Kalki organisers on the overall donations collected and their expenditure. The raids were held at over 30 institutions that are being run by the Kalki Ashrams in the three states. The ongoing raids spread panic among the Kalki followers who are vacating the ashrams.
