Film Distribution is a very risky business and we get to see longterm players very rarely in this industry. Only a handful maintain a steady balance and survive for long periods in this notoriously risky and cutthroat business.
One such distributor is Kranthi Reddy from Vizag. He has been around since the 80’s and he is on first name terms with most of the mega family heroes and veteran actors like Nagarjuna. Now, his business has been dealt a deathblow by the Mega family in a span of just 2 weeks.
He bought Sardaar Gabbar Singh for a very high price for the Uttarandhra area and lost more than 3.5 crores on this deal. Now, he also happens to be the distributor for Allu Arjun’s ‘Sarrainodu’ and this movie is also expected to lose big money at the Box Office.
Kranthi Reddy reportedly bought the Uttarandhra rights for about 4 crores and he will lose atleast 30 – 40% of the money, according to early estimations based on audience feedback. Making a profit in crores is a very very rare phenomenon in the distribution business. So it remains to be seen if the mega heroes come forward to help this loyal distributor.
