A major confrontation is brewing between two very renowned directors. The bone of contention is a novel and the right to make it into a film. Going into details, the novel ‘Kutraparamparai’ is well known in Tamil literary circles and renowned director Bharati Raja wanted to make a film out of it many years ago, with the late Shivaji Ganeshan in the lead role and Sharath Kumar as the supporting hero.
Unfortunately, the project never took off and Shivaji Ganeshan passed away. After all these years, director Bala has now decided to get the project going again, with Vishal, Rana and Aravind Swamy in lead roles.
This move has irked Bharathi Raja, who claims that Bala has no rights over the novel. Apparently, Bala has not responded to Bharathi Raja’s team when they tried to reach out for a resolution. This has irked Bharathi Raja, who feels Bala is showing him disrespect. Bala’s team on the other hand is adamant that only he can do justice to the novel and that Bharati Raja has no rights over the novel now.
Bharathi Raja’s team of writers say that they will proceed legally if Bala starts working on this novel. With two very well respected directors battling each other, the Tamil Film Industry is trying to stay out of the way and avoid taking sides.
