Puri Jagannadh’s latest film Mehbooba, which stars Akash Puri and Neha Shetty in the lead roles, is aiming for Summer release.
Mehbooba is produced by Puri himself on his home banner and his production partner Charmee Kaur is overseeing the theatrical business of this film.
Quite surprisingly, Charmee is quoting around 1.5 Crores for the overseas rights of Mehbooba. Trade circles are opining this is a unreasonable price for a film with a fresh face in the lead and a director who is coming from back to back box office duds.
Puri’s last few films have left no trace at the box office. His recent outing Paisa Vasool, which was bought for around 1.15 Crores, ended as a disaster and couldn’t even recover the expenses. Also, his film Rouge with newcomer Ishan collected a paltry $378, which is the all time lowest for a reputed director.
Trade circles are wondering how come Charmee quote such a high price for Mehbooba.
Is she oblivion to Puri’s awful recent overseas track record ?
