Popular Bollywood supporting actor Alok Nath landed into controversies as Vinta Nanda, writer-producer alleges that he raped her two decades back. Bollywood’s “Me too” movement is on full swing and many such incidents are coming out. Alok nath is known to Telugu audience too through dubbed versions of Suraj Barjatya films like Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Hum Saath-Saath Hain. He acted in several bollywood movies as well as some TV shows. He acted in Hollywood movie “Gandhi” too.
TV producer Vinta Nanda, who worked with Alok Nath in the TV show Tara in the mid-90s, made strong allegations agaisnt him. She wrote a long facebook post regarding this. Initially she didnot mention his name directly. But her description of him as a lead actor on 90s TV show Tara and her use of the term ‘sanskaari’ was identification enough. Of course, later she confirmed the name to media. She revealed that, he also assaulted the lead actress of the TV show. But after opening up on the incident, instead of getting justice, writer-producer Nanda got pressure from the TV channel that resulted in “Tara (TV show)” going off air abruptly and her other shows in the channel being cancelled as well.
We’ll have to wait and see how he responds on this.
