TDP circles are suspecting a close associate of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Dr P Narayana’s hand behind YSRCP MLA Kakani Govarthan Reddy’s allegations against TDP MLC Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy. It may be recalled that when the YSRCP MLA accused that Chandramohan Reddy has acquired over Rs 1,000 crore worth benami properties out-side the country, not a single TDP leader came to his rescue condemning such severe allegations.
The former minister Chandramohan Reddy has emerged as a member of the Chandrababu’s `fire brigade’ team when the later was in opposition for ten years, especially by making loud accusations against the then Congress regime, targeting YS Rajasekhara Reddy and his son YS Jaganmohan Reddy. There were only couple of leaders in the undivided Andhra Pradesh, who used to rescue Chandrababu Naidu from the then ruling party’s tirade. Somireddy also used to be uncrowned king for TDP in Nellore district.
However, Municipal Administration Minister Narayana also known as a financer to Chandrababu, never indulged in any political activity earlier is now a minister and started dictating the district politics. In order to strengthen himself in the district, he has been encouraging Congress and YSRCP leaders to join TDP. He also engineered admission of former finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, with a promise of a seat in the cabinet at a future date, along with his brother Anam Vivekananda Reddy.
Somireddy has been expecting a place in the cabinet for more than a year now and is awaiting Chandrababu’s cabinet expansion. Narayana is said to be worried about Somireddy’s elevation, as he would be kept out of district politics and also Anam brothers who joined the party with his promises, will be checked out.
It is evident that the police instead of acting on the complaint of Somireddy stating that the documents produced by Kakani were fake, revived an old adulterated arrack case. TDP circles are admitting such an act would bring sympathy to Kakani among people as that would be treated as a harassment of opposition MLA. A former minister said that somehow Chief Minister is unable to come out of the influence of Narayana and without the minister’s direction Nellore police cannot act foolishly.
