Prime Minister Narendra Modi today attacking the opposition for stalling proceedings in Parliament during winter session over the issue of demonetisation, said that opposition parties were trying to defend the dishonest and were running away form a debate on the issue of corruption and black money.
Addressing his sixth `Parivarthan Rally’ at Kanpur of Uttar Pradesh, he recalled that at an all-party meeting convened before the Winter session of Parliament, he had suggested a debate on simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and state assemblies and donations to political parties.
He alleged that Parliament was not allowed to function for a month as the opposition parties were not interested in a discussion on the two issue. Lamenting that some politicians tried to provoke people standing in ATM queues, he said but their designs were not allowed to succeed as the common man patiently understood that larger interest of the country was at stake.
However, he said, people in majority are with the government in the fight against corruption. Stating that he can understand the inconvenience being faced by the people due to the demonetization move, Modi assured that the problem will be sorted out soon.
The Prime Minister said, the government is using technology to track those who have stashed black money, and raids are being conducted country wide. During the rally, Mr Modi also criticised the ruling Samajwadi Party in UP over the law and order situation in the state.
He said, there will be no welfare of people of the state without changing the government at Lucknow. Attacking on Congress, the Prime Minister said, there was no accountability during UPA rule and country suffered a lot. He said, NDA government at the Centre has brought development and change. He said, now there is no crisis of fertiliser Urea and LPG gas in the country.
