Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the tragic death of 10 tourists in the boat accident at Kachchulu in Devipatnam mandal of East Godavari district. Modi conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. Another 46 tourists are missing in the waters. The expert swimmers and the NDRF staff have launched search operations for them. Only 24 out of the total 80 persons including staff reached the shore safely so far.
CM Jaganmohan Reddy expressed shock and ordered the officials concerned to take necessary action for rescuing the missing persons. He was angry with the tourism department for not taking precautionary measures. Telangana CM KCR sent his condolences to the AP people over the river tragedy. Majority of the tourists were from Telangana.
The mishap took place as the boat was carrying tourists from Gandipochamma temple to Papikondalu tourist spot. The tourism officials are being blamed for their negligence. For the past few weeks, there were floods in Godavari river twice. But the officials did not care to take safety precautions. It is going to be another black spot in the first four months of Jagan Regime.
